Circulation Loan Policies
Borrower Eligibility
Active Arkansas state employees and Arkansas citizens are eligible to register for a library card with the State Library. Library cards must be applied for in person.
In addition to library card privileges, Arkansas state employees may also apply for remote database access.
Registration Requirements
State employees must present the following:
- State ID badge
- Valid Arkansas Driver's License
Arkansas citizens must be at least 18 years of age, and present the following:
- Valid Arkansas Driver's License
- Recent bill or statement showing the applicant's current physical address
Checkout Limits
- New borrowers are limited to 2 items their first checkout
- No more than 10 items at one time
- Limit of 6 books on a single subject
- Limit of 2 videos, 3 audio materials, or 1 set of language materials at a time
Loan Periods
All materials are due on Wednesdays.

Renewals
Videos cannot be renewed. Borrowers may renew all other materials once over the phone or through their online accounts. If an item is desired for longer than this period, patrons must first present the item due at the Circulation desk. If no holds have been placed on the item, it may be rechecked out to the patron.
All items must be renewed before they become overdue. No overdue items may be renewed, and no additional items may be checked out until the overdue materials are returned.
Fines & Overdues
The Arkansas State Library does not charge overdue fees, but repeated lateness may result in loss of borrowing privileges.
Borrowers will be invoiced for the replacement cost of lost or damaged materials. If the item is in-print, the charge will be the current cost of replacing the item. The charge for lost or damaged materials which are out-of-print will be determined by Collections Development.
